At Parker Knoll, innovation is a way of life. The founder, Frederick Parker, was a highly creative designer who continually sought to enhance the furniture manufacturing process in order to provide maximum possible comfort. When Frederick’s son, Tom, made the decision to partner with Willi Knoll, a former fighter pilot who had invented a new form of sprung furniture, Parker Knoll was born.

Parker Knoll became the first furniture company to use a revolutionary new spring system. This innovation would ultimately set new standards for comfort in domestic upholstery. Consequently, if you mention the word “recliner” today, many will immediately think of Parker Knoll.

Parker Knoll are very proud of their unique heritage. Parker Knoll collections bring you the very best of classic sofas and elegant chairs, the latest developments in recliners and the finest fabrics and leathers sourced from around the world. Frederick Parker approached the development of fine furniture with a simple goal – to transform the everyday sitting experience. Today, the team at Parker Knoll continue to work to this core principle when introducing new designs to suit today’s lifestyles. They continue to innovate and lead the market in design, technology and fabric development, bringing you beautifully made furniture which provides unparalleled comfort and timeless design.

Parker Knoll’s story is a thoroughly British tale. In 1869, Frederick Parker created the chair making business that was to become Parker Knoll, and it quickly established a reputation as a high-quality upholstery manufacturer. He took pride in designing and developing the finest furniture, using the best of British craftsmanship. From humble beginnings in a simple workshop in London, the Parker Knoll business grew steadily over time. After many years in the heart of Chipping Norton, the business is now based in Riddings, in rural Derbyshire. Throughout its incredible 140-year history, Parker Knoll has established itself at the heart of furniture manufacturing in the United Kingdom. Those founding principles remain at the core of the business, and their dedicated team of craftsmen and women bring their experience and high standards to production today.
