Hello, we're Fishpools

Ernest Fishpool opened the first Fishpools showroom in 1899 with just £85 to his name. In 2024, Fishpools are still in the same building where it all started in Waltham Cross and are proud to be celebrating 125 years in the business this spring.

Based in Hertfordshire, Fishpools is the south east's largest quality furniture store, with an established heritage dating back to 1899. With years worth of expertise and knowledge behind us, we are proud of our reputation for serving great products, incredible value and first-class service across Hertfordshire, London and Essex.

1899

In 1899, Ernest Fishpool borrowed £85 to set up his first shop. Pictured here are Ernest and Kate stood outside 156 High Street, Waltham Cross.
1902

The company expands into 162 High Street and takes over a furniture business. Ernest can be seen here stood outside the store.
1905

Fishpools acquire 113 High Street, which is part of the current site.
1910

Horse drawn deliveries are pictured arriving at Fishpools.
1925

From horse drawn carriages to delivery vans, Fishpools Corner' carrying bedsteads, bedding carpets and rug deliveries.
1945

An advert for a clothes mangle - we still have an original mangle on display in store today - pop in and see!
1949

An advert celebrating Fishpools 50 Year Anniversary! - 'Half a Century's Happy Home Making'
1970

1984

The M25 opens with a junction at Waltham Cross, offering easier access, increased footfall and placing Fishpools on the map.
1998

1999

Our hand-painted vans are updated with a new contemporary logo, to coincide with Fishpools' 100 year anniversary
2002

Fishpools expand again by opening a new discount shop, Budget & Outlet, located next to the original showroom.
2012

The Olympic torch came to Waltham Cross, pictured here outside of the Fishpools store.
2021

During the Covid 19 lockdown the store undergoes a full refurbishment, with glamorous new furniture galleries and premium quality brands.
2024

Fishpools showroom today. The largest quality furniture store in the South East.
