Wooden Bed Frames

A wooden bed frame is a bedstead with a structure made wholly or partly from timber or wood-based materials. It typically includes a headboard, side rails and a supporting base, with some designs also featuring a footboard. Materials and construction vary by model.

Choose your wooden bed frame size by considering your preferred sleeping space, mattress dimensions and bedroom layout. Check the frame’s overall width and length, as the headboard, rails and footboard add to its footprint. Allow space for movement and access to surrounding furniture.

The difference between solid and sprung slats is their flexibility. Solid slats provide a relatively rigid supporting surface, while sprung slats are curved and designed to flex under weight. Either may influence how your mattress feels, so check which base your mattress manufacturer recommends.
