Side Tables

A side table is best placed next to a sofa, armchair or other seating where it can provide a convenient surface without obstructing movement around the room. Ideally, position your side table within easy reach and at a height that works comfortably with the surrounding seating. Side tables can also be placed between two chairs, beside a bed or in an unused corner to provide a practical surface for lighting, drinks or decorative accessories.

The best small side table for a living room is compact, practical and proportionate to your sofa or armchair while providing enough surface space for everyday essentials. Round or slim side tables work particularly well in smaller living rooms because they take up less visual and floor space. Look for a height that sits comfortably beside your seating, and consider built-in storage, nesting designs or lightweight tables if flexibility is important.

Many side tables can also be used as bedside tables when their dimensions and design suit the height of the bed. A compact side table can provide space for a bedside lamp, book and other essentials, making it a versatile alternative to a traditional bedside cabinet where extensive storage is not required.
