If a home makeover has been on the cards for a while, we have good news for you. January is the perfect time to put your plans into action – there’s a mood for change, enthusiasm for jettisoning the old, and fresh ideas waiting to be embraced. So if you’re looking for inspiration, take note of two compelling trends for 2018.
A feel for teal
This year, expect the transcendent colour to be teal. While the design and craft shows all celebrated a deeply saturated shade, going lighter can bring versatility to the coolest of hues. While teal can operate admirably under its own steam – as a primary colour on walls – it’s equally impactful as an accent.
Our Aurora bedroom range, leaning more towards the green end of the spectrum, pairs beautifully with lighter shades. We love how the marine vibe makes all the whites really pop.
We’re huge fans of this Whitney curved teal chair. Rich in texture and mood, it’s a fantastic – and easy – way of working the trend with smaller pieces. The beauty of teal is its versatility – not only does it work wonders with white, but easily delivers sophistication with darker hues. Dial up the effect with a couple of these Savannah cushions, or if you prefer to stick to accents, they’re an excellent option for lighter sofas.
While we’re on the subject of detailing, our Dolce teal rug is a bold way to reference the trend. Note how the shade works especially well with warmer wood tones – and its corresponding colour partner, tangerine orange.
Set to make a major comeback are tonal reds, as predicted by the design shows. Not only are they seen as energising, but they evoke feelings of excitement and motivation – making them the perfect January choice.
If this colour trend has been on your radar, your first port of call should be our Copenhagen leather sofa. The signature elements of our range – plush hide, superb comfort and contemporary silhouettes – take on a dramatic twist with this palette.
As it’s the season for change, we’d happily place a bet on our Fizzy Pendant ceiling light elevating your dining room or kitchen in an instant. See the dramatic silhouette enhanced by the saturated red tone – ideal for those Instagram-worthy moments.
Elsewhere, simple flourishes can go a long way. Towelling and bed linen are a simple yet effective way of channelling the trend with minimal commitment. Our Easycare red bedsheets range includes a flat sheet, fitted sheet and pillowcases.
