From helping to connect young people who have been affected by cancer with the support they need, to sponsoring young furniture makers nurturing talent for the future. , these partnerships give us the chance to make a contribution where it really counts.
Broxbourne based charity Teens Unite Fighting Cancer is dedicated to improving the lives of young people aged 13-24, with cancer and other life limiting illnesses.
The charity runs regular days out such as concerts, football matches, art and beauty workshops along with many opportunities for teens to gain valuable life and career skills. Teens Unite provides ongoing long term support for teens whether they are undergoing treatment or in remission.
The teenagers have reported improved hope and confidence as a result of the personal, teen-specific, support. The opportunity to meet others in similar situations has resulted in lifelong friendships being formed.
Teens Unite’s main aim is to get teens together in a fun-filled environment, giving them the chance to talk and gain strength from realising that they are not alone in their battle.
Teens Unite is unique in providing the ongoing personal support that has been proven to have a major impact on treatment and recovery for this age group.
The Furniture Makers' Company is a charity for the furnishing industry. The Young Furniture Makers is their student facing brand with a wide ranging education programme that helps support and nurture young talent for the future. It is a free to join group open to all young people, providing information and networking opportunities across the furnishing industry.
Awareness: Working with schools to build the foundations of confidence and aspiration in young people, inspiring them to choose a career in the furnishing industry
Funding: Awarding grants to a number of colleges and universities on a yearly basis for students studying a furnishing course.
Partnerships: Creating valuable relationships between industry, colleges and universities so that students can work on real projects, with real end results
Apprenticeships: Their apprenticeship scheme for occupational skills gives young people the chance to work at operational level and become future supervisors and managers
Experience: Graduates and young professionals can learn about the entire furnishing supply chain on their unique industry experience course
