We are delighted to announce that our marathon runner Rory Phillpotts successfully completed the London Marathon last weekend, raising an incredible £3,296 for Isabel Hospice.
A member of our Lighting Department and one of Isabel Hospice’s five ‘Gold Bond’ runners, Rory completed the 26.2 miles in an impressive 4hrs 31mins, just over his target time of 4 hours!
Earlier in the year we pledged to donate an extra £1 for every £1 that Rory raised (up to £1,250) to help him hit his initial fundraising target of £2,500. Following a dedicated ‘games day’ for his friends and family, Rory quickly exceeded this goal and set his sights at the £3,000 target, which he surpassed again!
‘This year my grandmother will be celebrating 25 years volunteering for Isabel Hospice”, Rory comments, ‘so taking up this challenge seemed like the perfect way to mark the occasion.’
‘We are delighted to hear that Rory completed this year’s marathon and for such a worthy cause,’ Simon Fishpool, Managing Director at Fishpools says. ’Isabel Hospice plays a vital role in the local community and we’re proud to be able to support them.’
Our sponsorship of Rory runs alongside our 2015 Charities Programme which aims to raise £5,000 for two local charities to reach a total fundraising target of £10,000 by the end of the year. The two chosen charities, Herts Air Ambulance and Teens Unite, have also been carefully selected in recognition of their incredible work.
