WHAT IS FISHPOOLS CHARITIES?

Our Fishpools Charities programme has supported our fantastic local charity partners for over a decade now and this year, our commitment is going even further! We strive to give something back to the people who live and work where we do, and our charity partners deliver crucial services to thousands of people across Hertfordshire and neighbouring areas.

We wanted to highlight the incredible work our charity partners provide, their mission, goals, and stories, and let you know how you can join us and get involved in supporting their work!

Celebrating its 40th Anniversary in 2022, Isabel Hospice supports over 300,000 people across east-Hertfordshire living with cancer and other life-limiting illness, providing free palliative care.
Through programmes such as their Hospice at Home, In-Patient Unit, and Living Well with Isabel, Isabel ensures the physical, social and emotional needs of the people and families they support are prioritised and supported.
To continue providing their excellent service Isabel must raise £7 million every year, meaning fundraising, community support and volunteering are crucial.

Since 2007, Teens Unite has been supporting people aged 13-24 living with cancer by organising safe, inclusive, and fun activities to prevent loneliness and unite young people with others who genuinely understand.
With over 2,500 new cases of cancer in teenagers and young adults diagnosed every year and 3 in 4 experiencing mental health problems, long-lasting support through diagnosis, treatment and remission is crucial.
Teens Unite’s free activities and residential stays enable these young people to make new friends, learn new skills, embrace new challenges, and live with their diagnosis in the best possible way.

WHAT ARE WE DOING TO HELP?

Fishpools has recently taken Isabel’s Tonnes Of Care pledge to help donate 25,000 tonnes of saleable, unwanted goods by 2027.

This scheme protects the planet by reducing landfill levels and helps generate funds by stocking their 18 stores to facilitate Isabel’s support. One tonne of t-shirts could sell for over £2,000, which equates to over 77 hours of specialist nursing care!
Since taking on the pledge in 2022, our teams have donated over a tonne’s worth of goods. This equates to over 400 hours of patient care! We’re so proud to be involved with this excellent scheme and can’t wait for the next opportunity to contribute.

Based in the old Hoddesdon police station, you can enjoy a cake and coffee in former prison cells, interrogation rooms and even the exercise yard!

The café provides a huge source of funds for Teens Unite and it’s so important the café spaces are cosy and inviting, as well as authentic. To help support the café, we decided to sponsor a cell and give it a unique Fishpools makeover!

In March, our first-rate design team transformed cell 7 into the Fishpools Cell, filling it with inspiring, on trend products that stand out in any setting! Why not visit soon and take a look for yourself?

Have you paid a visit to the Teens Unite’s immersive Jailbreak Café?

We celebrated Easter 2023 with a Charity Bake Off where ten of our most ambitious bakers battled it out to be crowned the Bake Off champion!

We received an array of delicious, beautifully decorated entries which we know everyone worked very hard on, however, it was the Kit-Kat bordered, pink-bowed chocolate cake that won over our judges and took top spot.

After announcing our winner, all the bakes went on sale for the whole store to try. We raised a whopping £400, which was donated to both of our fantastic charity partners!

Christmas is such an important time of year for Fishpools, and we know it’s no different for our charity partners. They both support people who are in greater need of services around that time, which is why we’re so proud that we’re able to present both charities with a large donation every Christmas.
