It's the hub of the home, a sanctuary for every member of the family after a hard day at the office or in school, and most importantly, the place where food is cooked, served and more often than not, eaten.

Now more than ever we are realising the importance of the family in our hectic lives, and that it is really important to have the right environment which everyone can come back to after a hard day work. The centrepiece of your kitchen will be the table. Get this part right and you are onto a winner. Think about your current interior and what style you think will go best with what it is you are trying to achieve, and then work around it. Lighting should be given special consideration, and spotlights are always a safe bet. They can be fitted in different ways - inside cupboards, under units and inside display cabinets. Lots of different sources of light in a kitchen will make the area cheerful and bright.
