It’s easy to forget how important it is getting the right flooring for your home, especially when you are caught up in the whole decorating-side of things, it can all get a little overwhelming.

We spend hours pouring over paint charts, fabric swatches, colour scheme and textures – the list goes on and on!

The one element of our interior on which we put the most demands is floor space,so it shouldn’t be overlooked.

carpets

Well worry not, because here at Fishpools there is a whole world of flooring options you can choose from, and with friendly expert advice you will see there’s so much on offer to help you get it just right.

As we move into autumn and beyond, our minds are set on all things cosy and comforting – the fitted carpet has been reinvented in recent years, returning with a real mix of modern colours, patterns and designs. Think rich colours or burgundy, berry and wine shades to give your home maximum comfort-factor.

So it’s safe to say carpet remains a firm favourite in the world of flooring. Natural effect carpets in neutral shades arealways a safe bet and are a good investment as they compliment the majority of colour schemes. Go for carpets with lots of texture to give your floor space a bit of an edge.

Hardwearing floors such as tiling and wood remain a popular choice and are a good investment if you aim to stay in your home for a few years. Brick and stone are perfect for creating a warming, Mediterranean feel to the home (when the chilliness and drizzle of the British winter start to set in!), so look for terracotta tones, whilst wooden floorboards give a warming, more contemporary feel to a room.

Stairs

Never underestimate laminate flooring – perfect for bathroom and kitchen areas it is a cost effective yet durable option and comes in a range of different colours, designs and finishes.

For those of you who like the minimalist look of hard flooring but love to have comfort underfoot, rugs are a brilliant option. They are an easy way of bringing warmth, pattern and colour to a room without going to the expense of a newcarpet. Go for ethnic style rugs from India or Turkey for a rich, warm look – a tip is to invest in a non-slip mat to stop movement.

There are a whole host of different types of flooring available from leading brands so view the extensive range of rugs from around the world at your leisure - it is also worth knowing that there is a custom-made rug service available in store.

For more ideas, choice and practical advice then visit Fishpools where you will find a vast selection of flooring in traditional, contemporary and modern designs - the tough part will be making a choice!
